Producer Information
Proexo Manos de Mujeres is an organization of coffee producers belonging to the Social Sector of the Economy of Honduras. Founded by 24 partners in 2016, the organization aims to address issues related to climate change and coffee rust diseases in their plots, striving to be more competitive through timely technical assistance and access to differentiated markets, with fair, stable, and constant commercial relationships.
In 2017, Proexo took the first step in exporting organic coffee cultivated by women under the initiative “Con Manos de Mujer,” which translates to “From Women’s Hands.” This initiative opened doors to new markets and marked the beginning of a strong commitment to gender equality. In 2023, they launched the women’s coffee brand “Brisas” to bring opportunities to the women of the region. As of 2022, a solid gender strategy ensured the equitable participation of 50% women in decision-making bodies and staff.

Washed
What is the Washed Process?
The washed process is one of the most common processing methods. Freshly harvested coffee is sorted for ripeness and the fruit and pulp is removed from the beans within the first 24 hours after harvest for drying.
